CJ, originally from Honolulu, Hawaii started with Woodside as an intern in 2021 before joining the team full time in 2023. David is a Senior Analyst at Woodside, where he primarily assists in asset management and financial analysis of the firm’s existing commercial real estate holdings. He also focuses on underwriting new assets. Originally from New Orleans, David joined the team in 2020 and holds a BBA in Finance with Real Estate from Texas Christian University.
Mark Horrell is the Managing Partner at Woodside and is responsible for overseeing the firm’s acquisition and servicing platforms. Mr. Horrell is a financial services industry veteran of over 30 years and prior to Woodside was the President and CEO at FirstCity Financial Corporation (“FirstCity”). FirstCity was a 135-person organization with over $650 million of managed distressed assets comprised of over 1400 account relationships. Mr. Horrell joined FirstCity in January 2009 as the Managing Director of Acquisitions and became FirstCity’s most senior ranking executive at the beginning of 2013.
Before FirstCity, Mr. Horrell spent 12 years in the hedge fund industry. From 1997-2001, he was with a multi-billion-dollar, multi-disciplined fund in Fort Worth, Texas (Q Investments) and from 2002-2005 he was one of two principals in a $350 million fund focused on risk arbitrage and convertible debt securities in Arlington, Texas (Durango Partners). In 2006, he founded a fund focused on convertible arbitrage (Hercules Security Investments).
In addition to the hedge fund experience, Mr. Horrell spent 12 years in commercial banking at the largest bank holding company in Oklahoma (Liberty Bancorp). During this tenure, he served in numerous roles including Investment Portfolio Manager for an $800 million fixed income portfolio (mostly treasury securities), Credit Review Committee Chairman, and Loan Review Manager.
Mr. Horrell earned a BBA in Finance and an MBA from the University of Oklahoma and also received the CPA designation.
Tim Larson is a Partner and head of Asset Management at Woodside. Before joining Woodside, Tim was a Senior Vice President at FirstCity where he was responsible for a $280MM portfolio consisting of 250 notes, properties, and accounts receivables (‘11-’16). Prior to FirstCity, he spent 10 years in commercial and residential development, working on projects that included gated golf course communities, Walmarts, multifamily entitlements, multifamily complexes, and production custom builder lots. Further, Tim spent more than 20 years as a mortgage executive with Chase, American Residential, Principal Financial and First Federal. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
Tim O’Connor is a Partner and the Chief Financial Officer at Woodside. Prior to joining Woodside, Tim was Executive Vice President in charge of debt capital markets investments at Sowell & Co. (’14-’17). He also served as the Managing Director of Beal Bank (’09-’14) and as the Head of Research at Q Investments, a multi-billion-dollar, multi-strategy hedge fund (’99-’09). In addition, Tim has 11+ years in commercial banking beginning at NCNB Texas and ending at Bank of America. Tim earned a BBA in Finance from Texas A&M University and an MBA from Texas Tech University. He is also a CFA charterholder.
Justin is a Director at Woodside, where he primarily focuses on the sourcing, underwriting, and acquisition of commercial real estate assets for the firm’s funds. He also assists in day-to-day asset management and financial analysis of existing investments. Justin is from Midlothian and joined the Woodside team in 2018. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA in Finance from Southern Methodist University.

Spencer is from Washington D.C. and graduated with a BBA in Finance from Christopher Newport University, where he was a member of the men’s basketball team. He joined Woodside in 2017.
